Happy Fall y'all!
Thank goodness the fall weather has finally decided to stick around for more than a day or two, because I know everyone in this area is definitely ready for the change. For any of you who do not know, our company is based in St. Louis, MO where we can easily go through two or three seasons in just seven short days. Though our ever-changing mid-western weather does keep things interesting, it also keeps us fashionistas on our toes when it comes to our wardrobe. This week I wanted to highlight some useful wardrobe styles that are great when it comes to transitioning from summer to fall.
1 // The Denim Jacket
Versatile layering pieces are essential for transitioning from one season to the next. Jackets are an easy item to throw on over a tank or tee and just go while keeping you weather appropriate. Everyone needs to have a good denim jacket in their closet. If you do not have one, you need to stop what you're doing right now and go buy one. Seriously. A little extra bonus here is that denim is a classic fabric that will never go out of style.
I don't know about many of you, but I am a huge sweater lover. Fall is without a doubt my absolute favorite season and, the minute the first day of fall arrives, I break out my sweaters. I just cannot wait. (Yes, I am THAT girl. The one trying to wear a sweater when it is still 90 degrees outside. Sorry, not sorry.) Luckily, the off the shoulder silhouette has been a very popular trend for the past couple of years and helps keep your favorite fall pieces feeling light and wearable for a longer time.
3 // The Mini Skirt
Skirts? For fall? Are you sure? YES! Mini skirts are actually a super fun transition piece to keep in your wardrobe. They have so much potential to make an outfit with both their silhouette and/or their material. For this time of year, the "mini" silhouette keeps the feel of summer so you want to look for fabrics like a suede or darker denim to pull the look towards the fall side. My favorite way to style a mini skirt for fall is by pairing it with an over-sized, thicker knit sweater. Tuck the sweater into the front of your skirt, add your favorite booties or OTK boots, and you're set!
4 // Cozy Cardigans
Ask anyone who knows me, and they will tell you that I LOVE a good cardigan. Similar to the denim jacket that I mentioned above, cardigans make a great layering piece when in any seasonal transition. What makes them a wardrobe must is the fact that they are so COZY! Cardigans are like wrapping yourself up in a cute blanket and who doesn't want that? Another really useful thing about cardigans is that they can be dressed up or down depending on how you style your look.
5 // The Rosie Sweater
You all already know that I love sweaters, but I wanted to specifically talk about a sweater that I got from MOD ON TREND last year. We call this style the Rosie Sweater. It is a lightweight sweater with a very relaxed, tunic-like fit. The fabric is AMAZING! It has this silky smooth texture to it, which makes me want to wear it all the time. This sweater is just so easy to wear: tuck it in, wear it as a tunic, knot it on the side, the possibilities are endless. It also comes in just about every color you could possibly want or need. Can you say, "Add to cart, please!".
6 // Basic Booties
Every year, at the start of fall, I go out and buy one pair of basic taupe booties and one pair of basic black booties. Why? By the time I get through both fall and winter, I have worn them so much that I have to buy another pair of each the next year! Booties are essential transition footwear, because they are the perfect in-between shoe. They provide coverage but are still easy to pair with everything from dresses to denim.
